Unrelated parallel-machine scheduling with deteriorating maintenance activities to minimize the total completion time
نویسندگان
چکیده
We study the problem of unrelated parallel-machine scheduling with deteriorating maintenance activities. Each machine has at most one maintenance activity, which can be performed at any time throughout the planning horizon. The length of the maintenance activity increases linearly with its starting time. The objective is to minimize the total completion time or the total machine load. We show that both versions of the problem can be optimally solved in polynomial time. 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Unrelated parallel-machine scheduling problems with aging effects and deteriorating maintenance activities
This paper explores the problems of unrelated parallel-machine scheduling with aging effects and deteriorating maintenance activities. The jobs are non-resumable. Each machine has at most one maintenance activity which is allowed throughout the planning horizon. Assume that once the maintenance activity is completed, the functions of machine and the properties of jobs e.g. the temperature (hard...
متن کاملUnrelated parallel-machine scheduling with deterioration effects and deteriorating multi-maintenance activities for minimizing the total completion time
This paper investigates scheduling problems with simultaneous considerations of deterioration effects and deteriorating multi-maintenance activities on unrelated parallel machines. We examine two models of scheduling with the deterioration effect, namely the job-dependent and position-dependent deterioration model and the time-dependent deterioration model. We assume that each machine may be su...
متن کاملDesign of a Hybrid Genetic Algorithm for Parallel Machines Scheduling to Minimize Job Tardiness and Machine Deteriorating Costs with Deteriorating Jobs in a Batched Delivery System
This paper studies the parallel machine scheduling problem subject to machine and job deterioration in a batched delivery system. By the machine deterioration effect, we mean that each machine deteriorates over time, at a different rate. Moreover, job processing times are increasing functions of their starting times and follow a simple linear deterioration. The objective functions are minimizin...
متن کاملA Novel B and B Algorithm for a Unrelated Parallel Machine Scheduling Problem to Minimize the Total Weighted Tardiness
This paper presents a scheduling problem with unrelated parallel machines and sequencedependent setup times that minimizes the total weighted tardiness. A new branch-and-bound (B and B) algorithm is designed incorporating the lower and upper bounding schemes and several dominance properties. The lower and upper bounds are derived through an assignment problem and the composite dispatching rule ...
متن کاملPareto-based Multi-criteria Evolutionary Algorithm for Parallel Machines Scheduling Problem with Sequence-dependent Setup Times
This paper addresses an unrelated multi-machine scheduling problem with sequence-dependent setup time, release date and processing set restriction to minimize the sum of weighted earliness/tardiness penalties and the sum of completion times, which is known to be NP-hard. A Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) model is proposed to formulate the considered multi-criteria problem. Also, to solve the mo...
